The Farmington Police District Coordinator Unit (DCU) and Mental Health Unit (MHU) have clearly defined responsibilities that are crucial for community policing and mental health support. ANIMAL CONTROL

Animal Control Unit: Responsibilities and Resources

The Animal Control Unit's (ACU) primary responsibilities include community animal welfare services, investigations, and enforcement within the city.


In terms of equipment, the ACU is equipped with efficient, safe, and appropriate tools necessary for their operations, tailored to their workload and service demands.

Comprehensive Training for Animal Control Unit (ACU) Excellence

Members of the ACU undergo extensive specialized training in law enforcement. This training encompasses various skills such as reports writing, computer operation, verbal judo (de-escalation techniques), defensive tactics, interview techniques, and note-taking. These skills are crucial for their roles in enforcing animal control laws, handling public interactions, and conducting investigations effectively.


The training provided not only enhances their operational proficiency but also improves customers service delivery. This emphasis on training allows them to adhere to best practices and maintain high standards in their work.

Additionally, all members of the unit are equipped with body-worn camera systems. These cameras serve multiple purposes: enhancing the evidentiary value of their investigations, improving general customer service interactions, and increasing overall accountability for their work.

CODE COMPLIANCE

Ensuring a Clean and Safe Community

Code Compliance is a division of the Farmington Police Department and their main goal is to ensure a clean and safe community for all citizens to enjoy. All officers are assigned a specific district within the City of Farmington. The primary duty of code compliance officers shall be to enforce the City of Farmington Municipal Code in conjunction with other departments, city officials and other outside agencies to maintain cleanliness, appearance, health, welfare and safety of the City of  Farmington.

PARK RANGERS

Community Ambassadors for Safety and Support

The Park Rangers Unit's main goal is to be community ambassadors within the city's vast park system. They are readily identifiable in their bright yellow uniforms, ready to answer questions for citizens and visitors to our city. They also maintain a law enforcement presence in the area to ensure a safe environment for park patrons.
